DESCRIPTION:To register\, visit: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/trembling-open-madison-tickets-69335298745 \nInspired by Sobonfu Some’s grief rituals of the Dagara Tribe in Burkina Faso\, we draw on the wisdom of this culture to address our shared human need to feel and transform grief\, pain\, disappointment and loss. Our time together includes learning about different forms of grief and eros\, sharing what breaks our heart\, and releasing the waters of the soul at the altar with music\, movement\, and community support through touch and witnessing. As Sobonfu Some says\, “Making the world a sustainable place is deeply connected to our ability to grieve together\, because this is what creates sustainability for the human soul.” \nWe are expanding on Sobonfu’s rituals by exploring the embodied connection between eros and grief through shaking\, vocalizing\, and deep release. This ritual is not just about emotional expression\, it is about being a village that loves unconditionally and honors our lineages and our connection with the land and water.  \nWe recognize grief and eros as powerful ways to release what we have been resisting so we can surrender to what is true. This healing ritual increases our resilience to look\, see\, tell the truth\, and take authentic action that restores our aliveness\, our compassion\, and ability to live our life’s intentions. Come allow what is yearning to move through you to open you more deeply to the fullness of your life. All touch is consensual and initiated by the person grieving. You are encouraged to come with loved ones with whom you welcome witnessing and touch. Erotic energy and touch is welcome but not required.

Learn about the lineage of the grief rituals brought to the U.S. by Sobonfu Some of the Dagara Tribe in West Africa. We will reflect on our personal and cultural need for healing and grieving. Inspired by Sobonfu this sacred work connects us to each other\, the power of belonging to and being a “village\,” and allows a deep dive into intimacy with life. We will also speak about erotic energy as a powerful source of healing that can open channels for the heart and for grieving.  \nHave a chance to ask questions and connect with the facilitators. This is a great opportunity to see if it aligns for you to join us for the weekend ritual. It is also the beginning of the ritual for those who are already coming. It is a chance to invite loved ones so they can connect with the wisdom and learn more about the meaning it has for you. It’s valuable to bring loved ones to the intro so they can be more connected to your experience and support your integration after the ritual.
