SUMMARY:How to ask for what you want: A Wheel of Consent Course
DESCRIPTION:Why is it so hard to ask for what we want? What gets in our way? How can we learn to know what we want\, trust in our own desires\, and communicate that to others?  \nJoin us for a 6-week guided practice laboratory to learn skills from the Wheel of Consent®. The Wheel of Consent® is a model of consent based on the idea of consent as an agreement between people\, with a clear understanding of who an action is for. This practice allows for a much deeper engagement with understanding our own wants and desires and our boundaries and limits. \nAt the end of this course\, you’ll: \n\nHave a deeper understanding of how to know what it is you want\nBe able to trust and value your desires\nBetter know in your body your authentic “yesses” and “nos”\nBe more awake to the pleasure of touch\nHave some tools to communicate your wants to others\n\nThis class meets for 2 hours each Tuesday evening\, 5:30pm Pacific Time/8:30pm Eastern Time.  \nIt is co-taught by Sasha Lasdon and Max Pearl\, who are both Facilitators-in-Training for the School of Consent. \nSasha Lasdon works as a somatic sex educator and dancer based in HoChunk land called DeJope/Madison\, WI. They have worked with movement\, sexuality\, gender\, bodywork and consent education for over 20 years. They are certified as a STREAM practitioner and are a facilitator in training with the School of Consent. They have taught and danced all over the world in contact improvisation\, aerial/circus and integrated dance companies and spaces.  \nMax Pearl has a Ph.D in Neuroscience from Case Western Reserve University\, and a Certificate of Theological Studies from Pacific School of Religion\, in Berkeley. Max was an HIV/AIDS educator and advocate from 1985-1995. He has been practicing Buddhist meditation since 1990. DESCRIPTION:To register\, visit: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/trembling-open-madison-tickets-69335298745 \nInspired by Sobonfu Some’s grief rituals of the Dagara Tribe in Burkina Faso\, we draw on the wisdom of this culture to address our shared human need to feel and transform grief\, pain\, disappointment and loss. Our time together includes learning about different forms of grief and eros\, sharing what breaks our heart\, and releasing the waters of the soul at the altar with music\, movement\, and community support through touch and witnessing. As Sobonfu Some says\, “Making the world a sustainable place is deeply connected to our ability to grieve together\, because this is what creates sustainability for the human soul.” \nWe are expanding on Sobonfu’s rituals by exploring the embodied connection between eros and grief through shaking\, vocalizing\, and deep release. This ritual is not just about emotional expression\, it is about being a village that loves unconditionally and honors our lineages and our connection with the land and water.  \nWe recognize grief and eros as powerful ways to release what we have been resisting so we can surrender to what is true. This healing ritual increases our resilience to look\, see\, tell the truth\, and take authentic action that restores our aliveness\, our compassion\, and ability to live our life’s intentions. Come allow what is yearning to move through you to open you more deeply to the fullness of your life. All touch is consensual and initiated by the person grieving. You are encouraged to come with loved ones with whom you welcome witnessing and touch. Erotic energy and touch is welcome but not required.

Learn about the lineage of the grief rituals brought to the U.S. by Sobonfu Some of the Dagara Tribe in West Africa. We will reflect on our personal and cultural need for healing and grieving. Inspired by Sobonfu this sacred work connects us to each other\, the power of belonging to and being a “village\,” and allows a deep dive into intimacy with life. We will also speak about erotic energy as a powerful source of healing that can open channels for the heart and for grieving.  \nHave a chance to ask questions and connect with the facilitators. This is a great opportunity to see if it aligns for you to join us for the weekend ritual. It is also the beginning of the ritual for those who are already coming. It is a chance to invite loved ones so they can connect with the wisdom and learn more about the meaning it has for you. It’s valuable to bring loved ones to the intro so they can be more connected to your experience and support your integration after the ritual.

DESCRIPTION:Join us for a continuation of our exploration of the Wheel of Consent! This workshop is open to those who have completed the introduction workshop with Sasha and Mihal or to people who have worked with Betty Martin directly. \nTo register\, please contact Sasha Lasdon at integratederos@gmail.com. $25-50 sliding scale. \nThis workshop continues to explore:\n-waking up sensuality – feeling and following pleasure\n-making choices – learning how to choose for yourself in an embodied way\n-understanding the dynamics of giving and receiving\n-understanding who is doing the action and who it is for. And knowing the difference\n-gaining skills of empowerment and communication \nWe will explore all the quadrants of Betty Martin’s model of the Wheel of Consent. Learning is experiential. There will be many opportunities to exchange touch as part of the learning\, but there is no genital touch and clothing stays on during the workshop. \nSasha Lasdon is a Somatic Sex Educator based in Madison\, WI. They have trained with Betty Martin over the past 4 years. They teach erotic embodiment for individuals\, couples and groups. They also teach movement and improvisation internationally. \nMihal Davis is a Naturopathic Doctor and Acupuncturist with an interest in energy medicine\, Tantra and Betty Martin’s Wheel of Consent. Mihal trained with Betty in 2018 and has been studying erotic embodiment for 8 years.
